Condensation in your Double Glazing? Time for Replacement Windows

by Steven

Double glazing has been around for some years now and the technology used in double glazing twenty plus years ago was not as good as it is today. Like with most things it is starting to get tired with age and people complain of problems with condensation with their windows and think that they need replacement windows. However it is not as simple as that and you may not actually need to replace your windows.

You may see water running down the outside of your windows, don’t panic this might not be as bad as it seems. If it is a cold day this is actually quite normal and common. The main cause of this is actually the moisture on your breath condensing when it meets the cool of your double glazed windows. By improving the ventilation in the room by say opening a windows will help this no end. It works in much the same way as your bathroom mirror. When you have a shower it will stream up but as soon as you open the window or bathroom door the condensation goes away.

However when you might have a problem is when there is water in the gap between the double glazed units. The way that double glazing works is that two panes of glass are sandwiched together and a narrow gap is left in between them and the unit is sealed. It is this gap which helps to improve the insulation qualities of double glazing and keeps the heat and the outside noises out. However if water has managed to get in the gap between the two panes of glass then the seal has been broken and there is obviously a problem. If your windows are still under warranty then you should contact the installer straight away. This usually means that replacement windows will be needed. However this shouldn’t be a big problem and the job should be completed fairly quickly with minimum fuss.

If the windows are not still under warranty then new replacement windows are going to be needed. Double glazing technology has improved over the years so you should not experience the same problems with modern double glazing. However it may be worth looking for a company which offers a long warranty period on their product to put your mind at rest. uPVC windows should definitely be a consideration when choosing new windows. uPVC windows are fitted as standard with double glazing so you benefit from improved heat and noise insulation helping save you money on your gas and electricity bills and improving your carbon foot print. However there are also many other benefits of uPVC double glazing. Probably the most popular benefit of uPVC double glazing is that is very low maintenance. Compared to wooden windows which need to be painted every few years to stop them from rotting uPVC windows only require wiping with a bucket of soapy water every so often to keep them looking as good as new. uPVC windows are also very secure. The latest in security technology is used to help keep your home as secure as possible.

So if you are having a problem with condensation then it may be time for replacement windows. uPVC windows should definitely be a consideration to ensure you find the best replacement windows for you. Freephone 0800 915 8844 today or visit your Local Conservatory Outlet Dealer.

This is a Double Glazing website, but we also bring you other news, such as some conservatory information.

In the current economic climate there are actually more people buying home improvement products.

But Why? Well, even though the recession is currently in full flow, the property market has also been devalued considerably. This means that instead of looking at trying to sell, owners are looking to try and improve what they have - either for personal use, or to improve their home so they can then manage to sell.

So at Conservatory Outlet, despite the recession, sales are doing very well - still get a very regular string of leads and take every care to meet the wants and needs of every customer individually.

There was an article in the Telegraph recently, speaking on this subject. The article states “Homeowners are spending an average of around £5,300 on improving their homes rather than risk exposing themselves to the struggling property market, according to research.”

nice conservatory

The research continues after to say that new bathrooms and kitchens top the list for areas home improvement, with the average price for a new kitchen however weighed in at £6,300. This is obviously a major investment.

It seems that people need change every now and then - It is in our nature to want something new and adding Conservatories to homes seems to be a very popular and well thought out option at the moment.

It is believed that by adding more space to a property in the form of a conservatory or orangery, it canl add around £20,000 to the value of a property. So it can be a great investment and is a much better option than adding a kitchen or bathroom as a conservatory will add a lot more value to your home.

At Conservatory Outlet, we understand the qualms you may face with finance, so we offer some great deals , including only £99 deposit and interest free until 2010.

We also have 20% Off our window and Conservatory Blinds.

So if you’re looking to add to the value of your home, look around the Conservatory Outlet site by using the navigation bar and please request a free quote on our website. All of our conservatories are tailor made to your specifications. Our range of Orangeries are more contemporary and may suit more modern homes even more.

The following is a Conservatories Talgarth Testimonial:

Dear Sir/Madam,

My wife and I live in Powys - Talgarth to be specific. Not long ago we were looking for a new Conservatory. We felt that it was the time to add to our home and were possibly looking at moving.

However in this current economical climate, it would have been very hard to have sold our house, so we decided that adding an extension was a good choice. When we do come to sell, it will also add to the value of our home as well, so we see it as a sound investment.

We found your website after being referred there by someone at work, and requested a quote from you. We received a follow up call and the customer service was to a very high standard, they weren’t pushy and didn’t pressure us in to any decisions. Instead we arranged a meeting time and they came over and drew us a conservatory design based on our specification .

The way the pricing was done impressed us. The spreadsheet design showed when parts were added or removed and the price was automatically adjusted. this was very helpful as we were working to a budget.

Our conservatory looks very nice now it’s installed and we’re very happy to have done business with you.

All the best,
J. Karens,
Talgarth.

Double Glazed Porches

by Double Glazing Guy

In the UK, porches came in to common place through being built on to churches in medieval times. Back in those days the porches were built from stone, or sometimes timber, and placed on the southern side of the building - sometimes on other sides as well. These porches were mainly built to provide cover for church goers.

As time went on the churches began to have two storeys, with a room above the entrance which was used as a storeroom, or library. Some of the times the church custodian lived in the upper storey and a window in to the church would be used for supervision of the interior. Some churches today still have these porches, both internally and externally.

Nowadays our double glazed porches are highly customisable, with different roof shapes, colours and Conservatory Outlet will even use the same brick pattern as your house so that it fits in nicely.

At Conservatory Outlet we are very proud of our Conservatory Porches. Please request a free quote online or give us a ring and one of our excellent customer support staff will be happy to help.
